Drasko Klikovac was born on November 27, 1959. Since then, he has been wandering all over this planet and often appearing in the form of a comet, traveling through remote galaxies.
He is invulnerable, thus steadfast. In his moments of leisure, the time between his long trips, he creates pictures, which are actually reflections beyond sensory stimulation and free consciousness. These pictures, limited only by size and not content, in fact represent vacuum-packed pure energy.They serve as charges for spent organisms, and are also used as therapy for depression.

Klikovac is interested in the esoteric fantasy, the erotic as a place of secret, magic refuge. He deals with the erotic according to a maxim saying “the erotic is pornography of the rich” and the poetry of selected, the place of happy, cheerful, sacral moments of a human life. For the sake of his rich clientele surrounding him for years and in a desire to bring such placid moments and incorporate them in an everyday life, Klikovac has ventured to transform his paintings into the sphere of an applied art, painting his motifs on the period furniture. The pieces he uses to paint are unique pieces of the best workmanship and design, expensive and exclusive ones. In doing this he is a pioneer, both in terms of painting and applied art. His role becomes important through spreading of his artistry. It is over these unusual objects, which inspire us to live in a refined ambient, that Klikovac spreads the whole chronicle of his painting: starting with fantastic themes of beauty with a touch or erotic to those utterly warm and personal images typical of the poetics and imagination of children. The achievements of his art make a legitimate heritage in terms of the best ideas, poetics and cognition that the extraordinary painting produced in this century.
So, where is, after all, the holy place, the faith of this painter? I would say that it is in the sincere, Rabelais-like and Don Quixote’s mocking of the world that the painter addresses to the world, that envelopes the creator and the observer standing before these works of art. Salvador Dali was once asked what he would take out of Louvre that the Futurist would set to fire? He replied them that he would take the fire. These pictures of irony, parody and sarcasm award us with what forms them in the background, colors and moves them, the emotions expelled from the deathly serious art – the laughter. In front of paintings Drasko Klikovac, a viewer of a high spiritual and mental sensibility, faces with an inverse idealization, hyper-realistic spiritualized deformity, wherein a Dickensian world, as a stereotype of urban poverty, occupies the central part of a painting. Again and again the same crucial metaphysical question is being posed – is there an angel or mercy in a man. Fiction, erotic and esoteric – they are three main supporting pivots of such unusual and disturbing painting of Klikovac.
The benchmarks of his paintings are unknown worlds of the Renaissance and yet, his work is a result of operation of an internal, compassionate camera which bears witness of the things unsurpassed, teaching us that there is no other promised land beside the one that a man can find in oneself.
